A 1978 Harley-Davidson XLH Sportster. I've had it since 2002, and it's still mine today.

How it came homeThe Story

I bought it in 2002 from a fellow who lived near Benbow, down in southern Humboldt County.

The motor was rebuilt by Mark Topping of Eureka. More than twenty years on, it's still mine.

Where it startedThe First Bike

I grew up riding motorcycles. My first bike was a 1977 Kawasaki KZ400. I was a junior at McKinleyville High School when this photo was taken, and I didn't get a car license until many years later. I was 100% a motorcyclist.
