Chapter oneA Little History…

This domain was created on April 20, 2000, after I juped the nick of a powerful IRC takeover bot from Romania named KaponE. I took the nick for myself, then registered a matching domain to further LOL at my now-defeated foe!

This all happened on Undernet, one of the big IRC networks: text-based chat that was hugely popular in the early days of the Internet. I was (and still am) a longtime Undernet regular, and I loved learning the ins and outs of IRC scripting. I eventually built my own repository of scripts, mainly for the mIRC client on Windows, but also for ircii and other Unix clients, since Unix was my home turf back in the '80s and '90s.

For years, kapone.net was the home of that FTP-based repository, and I never felt the need to code a homepage for the domain.

I'm still known as KaponE on Undernet and other corners of cyberspace. If you knew me from the good ol' days, reach out on Facebook and give me a holler! 😆
