The Tinker Room.

My office and workshop, or as I like to call it, my tinker room. It's where the radios live, where the writing gets done, and where old computers and broken gadgets get a second life.

The panoramic viewThe Whole Room

Panoramic view of a home office: a repair bench by the window, a wooden desk hutch holding a row of ham radios, a computer desk with a large monitor, and shelves of model motorcycles and hot sauce bottles — Left to right: the repair bench by the window, the radio desk with the Kenwood station, and the computer desk. Up top, the hot sauce collection keeps watch.

Under the magnifierOn the Bench

I repair computers and phones for family and friends. Cracked screens, tired old laptops, the occasional coffee or water spill: if it can be opened, I'll take a look.

An older aluminum Apple laptop opened up on a white bench under a lighted magnifier, with screwdrivers and a VGA adapter beside it — An older Apple laptop, opened up for repair.

A Samsung phone with a cracked screen on the bench beside precision screwdriver kits, pry tools and a lighted magnifier — A cracked phone screen, waiting its turn.

A laptop taken apart down to its green motherboard on the bench, with a hair dryer, a tool case and a magnifier lamp nearby — Drying out a laptop after a water spill, stripped down to the motherboard with a hair dryer standing by. It still works!
